How we work
Ok, so let's be upfront. We're an online pharmacy. We sell medicines. And we also write a lot of content about them, because we think being informed is important. This page explains how that content gets made. No fluff, just the facts.
Where We Get Our Facts From
The thing is, information about medicines has to be accurate. It's not something you can just guess at. So, all the factual drug information on our pages comes from official, publicly available sources. We don't make anything up.
Basically, we stick to the big, trusted publications that doctors and pharmacists use. These include:
- The British National Formulary (BNF)
- Summaries of Product Characteristics (SPCs) found on the electronic Medicines Compendium (eMC)
- Information published by the NHS and other UK health bodies
And to be totally transparent, if you scroll to the bottom of any of our main product pages, you'll see a list of the specific sources used to write that exact page. So you can always check for yourself.
Keeping the Pages Up to Date
Medical information isn't static, it changes. A new side effect might be discovered, or dosage advice could be updated. Because of this, our pages are reviewed to keep them current.
What triggers an update? Well, it could be a major news story about a drug, a safety alert from a regulator, or a change in a product's license (like it becoming available over-the-counter). We also try to review pages regulerly anyway, just to make sure nothing's gone out of date. It's an ongoing process, to be honest.
This Isn't a Replacement for a Doctor
This is probably the most important part. Nothing on pharmaquizz.co.uk is medical advice. Seriously.
Our articles are for general infomation. They aren't a diagnosis, and they definately aren't a prescription. You might read something that sounds familiar, but that doesn't mean you have a certain condition. Only a qualified healthcare professional who has spoken with you can do that.
So, you should always, always talk to your own doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before making any decisions about your health. Don't use our website to self-diagnose.
Spotted an Error? Let Us Know
We try our best but mistakes can happen. Maybe a link is broken, or a sentence is confusing, or you think some information is missing. If you see something that doesn't look right, please tell us.
There's a contact form on the site you can use. We do read every message that comes in. If an error is reported, it gets looked into and if it needs fixing, it gets fixed. Simple as that.
